Asia Pacific Branch

Labour International Asia-Pacific
Locations: South East Asia, China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the Pacific
Branch meetings on the second Wednesday/Sunday of the month (on alternate months)
Labour International Asia Pacific was officially formed in March 2023 as a merger of two previous branches, the
South East Asia and China branch and Australasia branch.
Prior to the merger, both branches sought to expand our knowledge of our respective regions, hosting guest
speakers who offered insights on the political situations in Malaysia, Vietnam, and Myanmar, as well as trade
unionism in Thailand, education policy in China, and more. To deepen our understanding of the political situation
back home, we invited expert speakers to discuss on separate occasions, the PCS and RMT strikes, the local election
results, transgender issues and neurodiversity.
We also began a campaign of sending letters to local British Embassies on relevant topics, including adequate
funding of the NHS and a fair pay deal for its workers.
After merging together our two former branches, we look forward to many more insightful guest speakers, valuable
campaigning, and fresh perspectives and debate.
