LI Germany & Switzerland recently passed this Climate Justice motion.
The branch is holding back on sending it to the General Committee to give other branches time to make any amendments they may wish, so we can get maximum branch support.
The end goal is to have the CLP send the motion to conference so that LI can act as an internationalist voice, making sure that the interests of climate refugees and the global south are not forgetten in whatever Green New Deal composite motion gets passed.
We would welcome LI members to propose the Climate Justice motion at your next branch meeting.
In parallel, Labour International for a Green New Deal (LIGND), has been working with Momentum International on putting forwards a Climate Justice motion through their policy process.
Our motion has had a big influence on the final version of Momentum’s Motion on Global Climate Justice which is part of the Momentum Policy Primary. Read it on Page 17 of the Final Motions document. All Momentum members can vote to determine the top 8 motions Momentum will campaign on in the run up to Labour Party Conference.
