A statement by Labour Party members in Poland after a meeting

As Labour Party members in Poland we would like to congratulate Jeremy Corbyn on his election as leader of the Labour Party. We are pleased to see a Labour Party leader consistently oppose the policies of austerity being imposed by the present Conservative Party government. This has exposed the myth of the Tory party’s rhetoric that it represents the interests of the British people. Rather their economic policies serve the interests of the wealthy and those that caused the financial crisis. As members of the Labour Party in Poland we are aware that large numbers of Polish people live and work in the United Kingdom. The Labour Party should represent these working people and oppose the divisive anti-immigration policies of the Tory government. As European Union migrants we are pleased that the Labour Party has stated its support for Britain to stay in the European Union. Together we need to campaign for a more progressive and pro-social Europe.
