Protect UK Aid Campaign Meeting
LI Africa and LIDN are co-hosting an Open Member Meeting on the Campaign to Protect UK Aid.
Sunday 13 December 2020
14:00 UTC/GMT, 15:00 CET
Time and date in all time zones
With guest speakers Preet Gill MP, Shadow Minister for International Development, and Daniel Willis of Global Justice Now.
The UK’s international development program is right now facing its greatest threat for generations. The government has abolished DfID, announced its intention to walk away from the legislated 0.7 percent of GNI target, and has been attempting to undermine development spending oversight bodies.
The keynote speaker will be the Preet Gill MP, Shadow Minister for International Development.
Joining her for discussion will be Daniel Willis, Policy and Campaigns Director at Global Justice Now.
We will hear from Preet Gil about her plans to combat this assault on aid, and what we in Labour International, can do to help.
Daniel Willis will share the insights of Global Justice Now, an organization with a longstanding track record of taking strong and uncompromising advocacy positions on issues of central importance to development.
Labour International Development Network is a grouping of Labour International members with an interest in international development which has begun organizing to raise Labour International’s unique voice in the party on this issue. WEE are coordinating with others, both in and out of the Labour Party, to advocate for a progressive and compassionate UK Aid program.
This meeting is open to Labour International CLP members. Please join us for what should be a very engaging Zoom meeting.
