A general election is very much on the cards in the next couple of months.
Labour International is now preparing as quickly as possible for this, and so the meetings of LIEC in September and October will be mainly taken up with election planning.
What can we do?
Dialogue
This is the system the Labour party provides for volunteers to conduct telephone canvassing on behalf of parliamentary candidates for target seats. All training and information is provided. Calls are free, or can be made at very low cost via Skype.
Up to now we have not been allowed to access this, but Labour International is negotiating with our head office for our members to join the team from overseas. We will contact everyone as soon as this happens, as we know many of you are waiting to take this up.
Until then, members of Momentum can join their telephone canvassing teams.
English Language Newspapers
or newspapers for British overseas communities. We aim to launch advertising campaigns in these, for voter registration first of all, then for recruitment and possibly also to get the vote out. If you know of any in your region, or can find out about any, please send contact details to me at:
policy-campaigns@labourinternational.net.
There will be more details of this later.
Social Media
For all keyboard warriors: There is plenty of material in our Facebook resources group Labour International for a Labour Victory and lots more on other social media and websites. Many online newspapers have direct links for posting to Facebook and Twitter. So post regularly, and keep posting.

or policy-campaigns@labourinternational.net for more ideas.
Our large membership is our great strength here – with over half a million members we are the largest political party in western Europe – and we can really make changes by working together. More than one in every hundred of the electorate is a party member, so there is tremendous potential here.
UK Electioneering
Anyone free to travel at election time will be welcome in the UK, especially in the target seats, marginal seats and those geographically isolated. They would really appreciate the help and can offer free accommodation to volunteers for anything up to three weeks before polling day.
Labour International will help with travel costs for low waged/unwaged members, up to £150. We already have arrangements with six constituencies, Loughborough ,
Barrow in Furness, Camarthen East and Dinefur, Pudsey, Rochford and Southend East, and Stourbridge and more requests are coming in.
Email: policy-campaigns@labourinternational.net for contact details
By helping in this way we are not only placing resources where they are urgently needed, helping to elect the next Labour government, but we also raise the profile of Labour International CLP within the Labour party.
To pass on your ideas or experience from previous campaigns, email chairs@labourinternational.net or send them to the newsletter to share.
Voting and Registration
Lastly, please check that you are still registered to vote! We have to renew our registration every year now in our UK constituencies; and don’t forget to apply for your postal vote or proxy. It’s all just a few minutes’ work online at https://www.gov.uk/voting-in-the-uk
