LI BAME Forum
BAME stands for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic
There is ongoing discussion amongst those communities about the suitability of that term, but it is the one currently used in the Labour Party.
Liz Sharma is the BAME officer for Labour International and the main organiser of the LI BAME Forum and its activities.
In August 2020, Labour International’s first BAME Forum convened, and forming a political education program around anti-racism emerged as a top priority. Throughout 2021, LI’s BAME Forum intends to produce a mini-series of anti-racism webinars, discussing a variety of issues with guest speakers.
As a collective, the LI BAME Forum aims to promote anti-racism as a central tenant of Labour Party values by increasing the visibility of BAME members and non-BAME allies. We seek to increase understanding and awareness of BAME issues within the broader Labour International membership, by producing engaging educational content and discussions.
